There was a steady staccato tap as armored black heels clicked against the titled floors of Shiketsu High. Izanami Ryū made her way down the hall, heading from her office to the Class 1-A Homeroom. The buxom beauty had a laptop clutched under one arm, as well as a manila envelope containing assorting documents of the students in 1-A. Dragon Queen was on the way to meet her newest crop of students, and if there was one thing she enjoyed, it was formal introductions.
When she reached the door to the classroom, Izanami paused for a brief moment to take a deep breath and collect her thoughts. She had been raised to always put her best foot forward first, and that meant leaving a good first impression. In one swift motion Izanami pushed open the door and stepped into the classroom, making for her podium and quickly setting down her things as she cleared her throat to speak.
The woman's amethyst eyes looked up to meet her class, her fiery gaze drifting across the room meeting the eyes of her students one by one. Izanami studied her pupils briefly, looking for telltale signs in their expressions when their eyes met hers. Eyes told a story, fear, nervousness, anger, sorrow, confidence, optimism, they were after all... the windows the soul. Izanami liked what she saw, at least at a glance. There was ambition, confidence, determination, and zeal.
The woman cleared her throat and began to speak in her authoritative tone. "Hello class, I'm sure you all know me as Dragon Hero: Dragon Queen. I am Izanami Ryū, and you may refer to me as either Miss Ryū or Dragon Queen, I have no preference which you chose. As you know, I am Shiketsu High's Foundational Hero Studies Teacher. My class and its curriculum focus on the fundamentals of what it means to be a Pro-Hero. Everything from proper rescue procedure, to how to handle a hostage situation, to combat, first aid, crisis management, and of course public relations."
Izanami grinned, a gleaming smile full of almost sinister glee. "I will warn you now, I run a very harsh curriculum, with the strictest grading and the highest percentage of failing students at this school. I do not tolerate second rates, here at Shiketsu we accept only the best and brightest... and only the best of the best are worthy of becoming Pro-Heroes." These students didn't know how easy they had things compared to her own high school years. Class 1-A didn't have the looming shadow of King Dragon watching over their shoulders criticizing their every action as Izanami did. Instead, they had only his daughter to contend with, and Izanami felt she was a far cry from her father's severity.
"Now..." Dragon Queen said as she straightened a stack of papers. "Let's begin with role call shall we? Once that's through I have an introductory writing exam for the class, so I can gauge where each of you is starting from in your understanding of foundational heroics. When I call your name, raise your hand and say 'Present'. Anyone who cannot follow these simple instructions will be marked absent." Izanami did not care that her students would protest an examination on their very first class with her. It wasn't even graded, they should be thankful for that. Opening her laptop Izanami found her attendance list, and began listing off the names of her students one by one in alphabetical order.
