And it was common for women on the maternal side of her family to be “early bloomers.” Only sixteen and Meisa is tall and curvaceous, she also has notable muscle mass (predominately along her arms, thighs, and torso) but that only further suits the niche heroine marketing. She is often mistaken as being older than her age and, consequently, sexualized. Her complexion is pale and, without scars or freckles or other markings, faultless. Her facial structure is long but her features well-proportioned, with a narrow turned-up nose, small plush lips, high rosy cheekbones, and large sapphire-blue eyes. A bit short-sighted, Meisa requires the use of glasses when reading. She also has thick, wavy dark hair that she wears to her shoulders. And though has the means to dress ostentatiously, she prefers dressing rather … “plainly.” Simple patterns, dark colours, denim, tights & stockings. the personality likes • doujinshi, trivia, arcades, bubble-tea, the scents of wet paint & ink dislikes • villainy, heights, trashy romances, books without illustrations, training with her father strengths • resilient, unflinching, clever weaknesses • temperamental, insecure, vengeful dreams • to make her father proud fears • to become like her father & heights overall personality • "Do not disgrace your brother - or me." Family is important. Molding Meisa. Her beliefs. Her pride. Her fears. Her father taught her that the world is black and white. That evil must be punished. And that there is pride in being “good” – in being the daughter of one of the greatest heroes. That the world should respect her – and if it didn’t, well, that was her fault for failing to “make” them respect her. It needn’t be by the use of force though. Meisa is studious, well-read and informed on matters relating to heroics. She maintains the notice of others by being top of her class, her mind sharp. However, she also garners attention with charm. Using that she’s the daughter of a famous retired hero to her advantage – want to hear all about Daddy’s past escapades? Sure! Want the juicy gossip on his famous friends? Sure! Want to hang out at her place after school? Sure! Want to be her plus-one at Daddy’s next heroes-only party? Sure! Meisa knows how to be friendly, confident, bubbly. And it’s not an act – but beneath her smiles she’s angry. Resentment and other ugly emotions built-up and pending from so often feeling inferior. Flawed. Forever falling short of being “good enough.” It makes her quick to frustration. Quick to shout. And quick to lash out. And too often questioning. Meisa’s also artistic though. In her spare time she enjoys painting, sketching and drawing by hand. She reads a lot of manga and hangs out at arcades. the history father • hirohito horikita, 47, pro-hero – retired mother • aimi horikita (nee goda), 43, pro-hero – deceased siblings • eiji horikita (younger brother) important people • Kouen Shirogiri (ex-childhood best-friend) hometown • yokohama, Japan overall history • "They murdered her – and you will not let them get away with it." Meisa was nine years old, her brother only six, the day that their mother didn’t come home. Her death not told to her as news, by her grieving father or by a sympathetic other – Meisa had seen that terrible moment. Televised as it was – the crime-fighting married duo, King Dynamite, and Mona Lisa, were popular on Yokohama’s news channels. What journalists had thought would be another triumphant moment by the pair abruptly became the sight of shards – too many and too large and jagged shards – piercing through Mona Lisa’s chest. Meisa would never forget that sight – the look that cameras had caught within her mother’s eyes – that crimson spray – the cries of alarm by those around her – hands attempting to pull her away, turn her around and away but too late – Her father, years later, would not let her forget. Playing a taping of that nightmare, making her watch. "Watch – don’t you dare turn away! Look at what evil does – unless it’s crushed." Her father retired the day her mother was buried. Others said that his desire to fight had gone, that he just couldn’t fight without the woman whom he had loved at his side – they were all wrong. Retired, he applied all of his time and focus upon his children. In hammering them to pick up the fight in his and their mother’s places. Being the nail to his hammer wasn’t pleasant – not for Meisa. Her brother Eiji – well, had never done any wrong, not even at birth. Born with a dual-quirk, both their father’s and their mother’s quirks, exactly what their father had always wanted. Eiji never failed to impress, whilst Meisa – she always seemed to fail. Even during his training, his warm-ups, when one-too-many connecting hits, when her body grew too exhausted to move, her hands shaking and her tears beginning to overwhelm her eyes, he would make that face at her. "Three minutes." A warning. To dry her eyes and recollect her breath. Then they’d resume – only he’d be all the more intense, all the more demanding. Even when it came to her acceptance into Shiketsu Academy she was still a disappointment – her father, using his influence, arranged that she needn’t sit the standard entrance exam, instead she “performed,” more-or-less, for the examiners and academy’s headmaster. Demonstrating what being her father’s daughter meant. She impressed – them. "Do not disgrace your brother - or me." Her father’s parting words as she stood with bags packed, ready to leave for Tokyo, for school. Take up her mother’s mantle, become the second “Mona Lisa” – her father’s expectations. To stop the evil that had murdered her, the evil that “infects” society. Meisa, though, sees that “evil” in places other than TV, in magazines and on the internet. She sees it in her father, in his friends. In those who look away from his evil, pretending they don’t see. "Fight!" He orders. "Avenge!" He demands. And perhaps she just might. the Quirk artistry quirk's rank • II quirk's tier • II quirk's type • emitter quirk description • a quirk that allows for the creation of objects and beings via artistic means. That is by drawing, painting or sculpturing. quirk limitation • an inherited quirk, it’s assumed that Meisa’s capability over “Artistry” will match her mother’s. Who could draw, paint or sculpture the design of a weapon or tool only for it to materialize into a solid and useable form. She could also create “beings” of limited sentience to perform tasks on her behalf and assist in rescue efforts. And alterations to her environment, such as painting “holes” on surfaces or painting means of repairing buildings. It was known that all of the former Mona Lisa’s creations were finite – though it is still a debated subject by her fans the exact amount of time they could last. None of which did outlast her death. Meisa is short of her mother’s talent. For one, she finds the realism style “awkward,” her own art being more cartoonish. What she creates often stands out. And though the “creation process,” of what she draws or paints or sculptures coming “alive,” is rather instantaneous – the moment her design is complete – they are not all that durable. Physical force – of stronger than the average person’s capability to slap – will cause them to fall apart. Though, there does not seem to be a limit to Meisa’s range of influence – in that were one of her creations to put distance between them, leaving her range of sight, it would not suddenly fall apart. That said, the “sentience” of her creations is so low as to be non-existent. They have no communication, no expression. And can follow but a singular purpose – “tripping a person,” if that was the intent behind Meisa drawing, painting or sculpturing it. After which it will always fall apart. And even should a creation possess the fortune of not being physically destroyed or the misfortune of being unable to carry out its singular purpose, it still cannot “exist” for long (a four-post duration at the most). And by “falling apart,” creations literally do that. No matter if painted or drawn, the materials used in its creation, all creations are reduced to a dark ash-like substance. Meisa also cannot use blood, sweat or tears – anything organic – for her “Artistry.” Not even drawing on her skin will work. At the moment she cannot animate more than two creations at a time. quirk weakness • as said, her quirk only works non-organically, requiring the need for art supplies. And Meisa being without pen or paint, etc., would essentially render her temporarily quirkless. And whilst all her creations are quite fragile, depending on the materials used for their creation they can be vulnerable to certain things – a creation sculptured from clay would have some resilience towards heat and flame where as one drawn from paper and pencil would be vulnerable to heat and flame. Water too. The greater the size and more complicated of design a creation requires the slower her quirk works in bring it to “life,” also. the Talents talent's name • artistic talent's rank • II talent's tier • II talent description • not a professional, Meisa still has some notable skill with a pen, pencil, ink, paint or paper, and a bit of her own sense of style – described as “cute, cartoony, new-school.” She dabbles in art on a daily basis. talent's name • mixed martial arts talent's rank • I talent's tier • I talent description • trained by her father, there is much for Meisa to still learn but her body is toned and dexterous, and grants her some small advantage against those untrained in physical combat. the role player |
