[attr="class","box2"]Its design verged on the complex. Countless wiring and coding contained within the rectangular resemblance of a vending machine. A dozen all lined up within Shiketsu Academy’s eatery, designed by one of its upperclassmen and tested by its students. From what Meisa had heard what feedback had been gathered marketed the machines as a success.
After all, a cooking-themed quirk could result in the near-perfect standard of creating delicious meals, but unless that same quirk was paired with a secondary speed-quirk it would always result in queuing-up to be fed. A machine, however, with a specific design, could reproduce hundreds of pre-determined meals at a fraction of the time, and arguably of similar quality.
Her sapphire eyes read the electronic screen, a fingertip scrolling down the screen. Noting that the machine really did seem to offer “everything.”
From sweet to savory. The traditional to more exotic choices. Even an option to “customize” one’s meal.
She chewed lightly upon the plush flesh of her bottom lip, seemingly indecisive. And her attention drifted, towards some of the seating within the spacious hall, where students sat in groups and pairings of friends. Laughing, goofing around.
Meisa had been – well, holding herself back. Attentive of the dynamics of her new surroundings. She knew, however, that she would need to stop doing that soon, to commit to getting close to a new face, or three. There was nothing to be gained from being “the loner” within the academy.
She wasn’t feeling all that hungry, not with it still being her first day at the academy, but forced her attention back to the vendor’s screen anyway.
Eenie – Meenie – Miney – Mo.
She tapped a fingertip against the screen, securing her choice. Not everyone's perfect... but sometimes the world seems like it'd be better off if they were. Kouen himself had already gotten something to eat. His usual go to for enjoying food is to have seafood, but he wasn't feeling it at the moment... so he went for something simplistic instead, a bowl of rice and a bottle of water. Stupidly simple, but he was satisfied with it. He didn't know many people at Shiketsu at the moment and he wasn't expecting it to so hard, he thought he'd come across a bit of interaction naturally but there was none of it... just awkwardness.
He sat at a table outside of the normal cafeteria, as most people seemed to enjoy eating inside instead of outside and that gave quite a fair few seats. With how simple his meal is, he was already close to finishing it and started to have a fair few sips of the water bottle, his break would've been short and he'd head back into class. A boring lunch if nothing else was going to happen, but at least he got a breather. notes ♡

[nospaces] Lunchtime. Oh, it was the best time of the day. Class was difficult enough on an empty stomach, and the girl sought only to fix such a problem. Along the wall in the cafeteria was a long line of what appeared to be vending machines with a rather fancy touch screen. Stepping up on closer inspection her eyes grew wide with delight. It was one of those machines, the ones designed by the upperclassman! It was amazing how far and fast they were able to spread as some even started to make their way out of the high school and around Tokyo; although she had never seen one with quite so many options. [break][break] "Hmmmrgh..." her voice produced a nearly inhumane sound as she rapidly swiped and tapped away at the screen. "They can't possibly..." She tapped the search icon before rapidly typing out the word 'Takoyaki.' Sure enough, several forms of the dish appeared as options on the screen. "I almost can't believe it. Now I have to..." Tapping on the option for the Takoyaki Bun, something that would most normally be found in a random convenience store her gaze drifted over to the machine next to her. [break][break] There was a dark-haired girl who previously had been staring at the screen before her attention had too, drifted from their own machine. Curious, Yumiko didn't remember seeing her earlier that day; then again she didn't have the best memory in existence. Watching the girl choose an option, her eyes lit up and a wide smile came across her face. [break][break] "Good choice!" Yumiko's voice blurted out loudly from beside the girl, hoping entirely to surprise her with the sudden short outburst while simultaneously not being too obvious that was her goal. "Makes me a bit curious why you would pick that though but... Ahhhh who am I kidding." She hadn't even looked to see what the girl picked, but was literally just starting a conversation. [break][break] Bing. A bell sounded from the machine she was standing in front of as the sound of a small sliding tray could be heard. "Oh! My foods done. Waow... that was quick." Lifting the small plastic section below the screen she pulled out her lunch for the day; a medium-sized takoyaki bun... her second favorite. Cravings were cravings, what did you expect. [break][break] "Sorry I didn't have time to introduce myself. Name's Yumiko. If you want we can sit together at lunch if you don't have anyone to be with." She smiled, lifting the bun up and smelling the air above it. "Ah... that's perfect. I'll be outside. See you around!" And just like that, with a slight salute, the bright green-haired girl was gone, vanishing into the crowd almost like a ghost. [break]
Where the girl had escaped to, however, was just outside the cafeteria itself. It was a nice day out, and it would be a literal crime to miss it. Funnily, it seemed their school was full of criminals than as the number of people inside far outweighed those outside. Looking around, she hunted for a table that had plenty of free space but wasn't empty. The bright-eyed girl needed her socializing for the day, despite having been socializing the past few hours probably being more than enough. Almost as if fate, she found a table fit for a small group of friends where only a single man lingered with but a small, inadequate meal. [break][break] "Heyyyyy! Mind if I sit here with you?" The girl called out to the man as she lightly jogged over to him, tray in hand with a single takoyaki bun. Despite what he responded with, she still opted to plant herself down in the seat right across from him. "So. First day of school, what 'bout you?" Awaiting a response, she simply stared at the man behind her smile, before taking a large bite out of her takoyaki bun. [break]

Post by Ryuzaki Takeichi on Oct 17, 2019 9:35:52 GMT -5
Oh boy lunch time! Ryuzaki was STARVING. Today he packed his favorite meal as well so he was really in for a treat. As he walked to the cafeteria hold a steaming hot bowl of what appeared to be some sort of noodles in some sort of broth with the lid closed, the bowl wafting the scent of kakejiru, prawn tempura, and a steaming hot poached egg out around Ryuzaki and making his stomach growl. It was a decently big bowl. Probably 2 and a half servings of it. Of course, this was the only time Ryuzaki would pig out like THIS.
As he got toward the cafeteria he noticed that Yumiko-chan and what appeared to be some other girl focused on the electronic menu. Ryuzaki wasn't usually the kind to eat the school food, he preferred the flavors of home that he learned from his mother and father before they sent him off. Ryuzaki however wasn't here to reminisce about that, it was food time! However as soon as he sat down a few tables away from them Yumiko seemed to leave, not that Ryuzaki took massive notice as by that point he was FACE. DEEP. in that bowl of Udon, shovelling noodles, broth, prawn tempura, and bits of poached egg into his mouth, his lips and face faintly dripping with the broth and the thick egg yolk.
Once he was done getting... very R-Rated with that bowl of udon he picked up the bowl and chugged the remaining broth before putting the now empty bowl away in his lunch bag, giving a light and quiet belch before before picking himself up from the table, not paying much more mind to the inside cafeteria before heading outside to see Yumiko-chan having a conversation with some guy he didn't recognize. He gave a light smile and approached.
"Oooh, heya Yumiko-chan who's this guy? I'm assuming you must be new here sir, I'm Ryuzaki Takeichi, it's a pleasure to meet you." Ryuzaki said, extending a hand for a warm friendly handshake to the man that was sitting alone here with Yumiko

[attr="class","box2"] “Mo” turned out to be omu-rice, a basic but safe choice considering the countless “bad” choices that fate could have picked. Like natto. Or umeboshi. Meisa had just tapped the screen, which lit up briefly as the machine echoed a short rhythmatic tune, signalling it was preparing and cooking her choice, when a loud feminine voice abruptly sounded, with alarming enthusiasm, at her elbow.
Meisa did not jump out of her skin – somehow. Tensing on instinct, she turned, finding a slightly familiar face. Yumiko Mizunaka – if she remembered from an earlier class. A girl who hadn’t demonstrated what her quirk was but had still boasted to be the best out of all of the new students in the academy.
”Omu-rice?” The other girl would have practically have had to have been peering around her to have seen what choices she could have randomly have chosen, which was somewhat strange – Meisa could only guess why the other could be so curious. She spared a small smile, an eyebrow quirked, teasingly. ”Too simple?” Relaxing her expression, Meisa gave a careless shrug of a shoulder as she added, ”I kind of like that though. It’s like comfort food.”
The vendor beside hers echoed, signaling that Yumiko’s own order was done – which turned out to be a Takoyaki bun. Street food. Which caused Meisa to grin. ”Hmm, looks like you like similar things.” Perhaps Yumiko agreed – or she didn’t, for, after sniffing appreciatively at her meal, she invited Meisa to sit with her – and then practically darted away. There was no time for Meisa to say anything, in the blink of an eye the other girl had stepped away and, with alarming ease, she and her long green hair seemed to disappear among the moving crowd of hungry and socializing students.
A second trill echoed, this time it was Meisa’s order that was finished. The folded omelet served on a porcelain plate and tray, large enough that it practically matched the size of the plate. Steam wafering from its golden texture, drizzled by a crimson sauce. With one hand she collected the tray whilst with the other she tapped upon the vendor’s screen once more.
B-u-b-b-l-e T-e-a
Once typed, the machine prompted her for a further choice, listing a range of flavors. She tapped the Jackfruit image and then waited as the vendor once again took to preparing her order, though she allowed her thoughts to wander. Yumiko seemed a little, well, “odd,” and her gutsy self-introduction in class hadn’t done her any favors. But she was friendly and seemed relatively harmless. As far as options went she wasn’t a bad choice for a friend.
And that thought was why Meisa had ended up looking for that mane of green hair, walking outside to the outdoor seating with her tray balanced against the crook of her left arm, her right holding the plastic cylinder of her drink, sipping at it through a plastic straw.
Spotting Yumiko wasn’t that hard and Meisa placed her tray down at the table, moving to sit down beside her before truly paying much attention to the fact that two others were sharing the same table. ”Thanks, Mizunaka-chan, for letting me sit with you,” Sparing a smile at first at Yumiko, Meisa’s sapphire eyes turned towards the taller brunet – Ryuzaki Takeichi. She remembered how he’d made the space above his head “shine” during their earlier class. Sparing a smile at him too, she said, ”Takeichi-kun, right? I’m Meisa – we’re in the same class.”
A second shifting of her attention however quickly dropped her smile. In fact, her sapphire gaze hardened as she regarded the familiar wiry figure, with his dishevelled dark hair and mean brown eyes. ”Ah, Kou.” She forced her lips to shift, not quite smiling. ”Figures. It’d be too much not to run into you outside of class, I guess.”

Not everyone's perfect... but sometimes the world seems like it'd be better off if they were. Kouen didn't expect someone to came to his table, before he even had a say, she had already planted herself on the table. It looks like it wouldn't be such a boring lunch after all, someone to make it a bit more exciting. "Of course, feel free to make this lunch a bit more excitable for me." and with the attitude she's gotten from her so far, he'll probably get more than he's bargaining for. "It's my first day here, not making too many friends but hey, it's just the first day and they're always rough."
He imagined that it'll get better as time goes on, hopefully. He at least isn't getting shit for having villains as parents, so that's a major difference between this school and his middle school. A chance to prove his heroic intentions, that's all he ever wanted and he finally has a chance to do it.
Next came another guy, who knew the girl he was talking to just a second ago, giving a light laugh as he called him "Sir." He gave a firm grip to his handshake before letting go of his grip. "Just call me Kouen." he said, seeing the "Sir" part as a bit much and way too formal.
Then came another person and of course... it had to be her of all people. Just as his lunch started to go in a positive direction, it just had to go downhill... Kouen could never have anything nice for once, simply scoffing at her passive aggressiveness. "To be fair, I've been sitting here the entire time... if anything, you chose to approach me." he took the last sip of his water bottle, which pretty much became empty. He opened a portal right on top of the bin, then he opened one near himself. He put the water bottle through and it neatly fell into the bin. He then closed the portals right after.
"Anyway, I'm not going to let this lunch be ruined by a buzzkill, what do you guys make of our teacher? she's a bit... odd, but she has her morals straight." he isn't sure on what to make of Chiyoko, but so far she's shown herself to be a good person. He'd hope to fortify his thoughts on her though depending on what the others say. notes ♡
