Fell black wings beat in a slow and steady rhythm as Dragon Queen soared above the apartment complexes and commercial streets alike. She was late, and if there was one thing Izanami Ryū detested, it was being late. The heroine had been caught up momentarily by a car crash happening in the busy traffic below. A driver texting has collided with the back of a delivery truck, blocking several lanes along on of the city's many bridges. Izanami had swooped down to investigate, and found both drivers unharmed with only bumps and bruises. Being on a tight schedule, she'd shoved the disabled vehicles onto the shoulder to allow traffic to continue before taking off.
If Izanami had a watch that fit, she'd be looking at it. Twelve o clock sharp, that was what they had agreed on. She silently cursed herself for not agreeing with Faux's original suggestion of a late lunch. She would have had plenty of time otherwise. Izanami beat her wings harder, pushing forward with even greater speed as she entered the final leg of her journey. Pushing herself with Dragon always left her famished, she hoped her colleague wouldn't find it unladylike if she ordered a light snack like a dozen muffins to wash down her coffee. Izanami brushed aside such thoughts, two quick bursts of smoke pouring from her nostrils as her speed increased. She could make good time, she just needed to fly faster was all.
Some five or so odd minutes later she spied her destination. A quiet coffee shop on the bustling streets below, located right on the street corner a mere block from a major bullet train station. Premium real estate for anyone in the coffee business. Izanami circling above briefly, waiting for a red light to change before she streets cleared up. When the cars passed she swooped down and landed gracefully on all fours with an earth shaking rumbling. She had gotten good at landing without damaging pavement, though that didn't stop the ground from tremoring like in Triassic Park. Rearing up onto her hind legs the dragoness quickly returned to her human form. The metallic collar around her next shifting back into a rather revealing suit of black armor that flaunted a lush valley of cleavage.
Izanami took a moment to fix her hair as she sashayed her way up to the coffee shop's entrance. Glancing inside she quickly spotted the telltale furry visage of her colleague. Between the ears and the fur, Faux tended to stick out in a crowd. Though with her grand entrance, descending from the skies and all, Izanami was hardly one to judge. The voluptuous heroine made her way towards Faux, armored heels clicking on tilted floors. She brushed past him, grabbing her chair and taking a seat in one fluid motion. Izanami smiled wide, looking over her once-idol, now colleague. When she was a young girl Fantastic Mr. Fox had been a rising star on the Pro-Hero circuit. Kind, humble, personable, and a natural showmen, she and her siblings had idolized him as a Hero to live up to.
It was all still a little flustering, working besides her old idol as equals. Well, more getting coffee and brunch as equals, but still. The Faux had arranged this entire meet up to discuss potential joint training exercises between their two respective schools. "Long time, no see Faux-Sensei." Izanami said in a cheerful tone. "It's been far too long, how's the wife been? I haven't seen Marie since the Sports Festival." A waitress came to check on Izanami, asking for her order. She naturally did in fact order a dozen blueberry muffins, and a coffee to wash it down. Black as her scales, just the way their father preferred it. When the waitress departed, Izanami turned her attention back to Guy, more than eager to hear his response. ๑

Orange and cream fur shined in the midday sun as the Pro-hero Guy Faux or as he is better known as Fantastic Mr. Fox walked down his way down the street to a cafe, a little place to the side that the small fox man likes to occupy during his off time, today is one of those days. Guy was able to get there on time as there was no incident besides a small thing. Such as a group of fans wanting his picture and admiring how lovable yet powerful he was. You think after being a pro-hero for 21 years, one would get used to such praise on the daily. But nope. He never got used to, so when he said he's just doing his part to help others, his fans praise him more, which made the fox man blush a bit. But after a bit, his fans relented after he told them he was meeting up with somebody nearby and he needed to leave. And after a few moments of walking, he made it to the meeting place where he will meet up with Izanami. He barely made it on time, and yet Izanami hasn't arrived. If Guy didn't know how powerful the young lady was, he would be worried for her, but he knew she was a powerful and admittedly an admirable young woman with strong convictions and a focused moral compass. Could loosen up a little bit. But knowing who her father is, it makes sense why she's like that. But, that's not his place to judge, not too loudly anyway. But after arriving, Guy stood by for a few moments for Izanami to arrive before taking a seat when it would appear she'd be a few minutes late. Guy wondered if something happened that caught the young dragon's attention. That makes the most sense to him she doesn't seem like the person to ever be willingly late, for anything even something as casual as to meet up with little old him. When Guy sat on the chair, his feet hung over the edge and was a few inches up in the air he kicked his feet as he waited patiently for Izanami, not long after he heard the sounds of beating wings and with that, he smiled and placed an order for a medium cup of hot chocolate milk and a cake pop. A little snack for today. Not long after he placed his order did Izanami spotted him and walked over to his table and took a seat across from him, she was a young lady with an indomitable will and yet kind heart, so Guy found her an inspiring figure for all future Pro-heroes to follow in her footsteps. And a good ally and friend. But this meeting was his idea, after all, he was honestly curious about this year's first years at Shiketsu. Pro-hero agencies took hero students as interns and Guy wanted to do a little bit of window shopping before he picks out any students as his interns. When Izanami greeted him Guy waved at her and gave her as much of a smile as his muzzle would allow and greeted back with his own, "Yes it has, and can I say it's nice to see you again Izanami-San?" Guy said with a charming voice and smile. When Izanami asked about his wife-ex wife, Guy let out a sheepish chuckle and scratched the back of his head, and let out an awkward laugh, "Oh yeah, it has been a while since we last talked, huh?" Guy said before continuing, "But yeah, Marie and I split up a while ago," Guy said with a little bit of a sad tone that masked how much he hated that it was still real. But Guy smiled at the waitress came over and took Izanami's order and she brought his order of Hot chocolate milk and cake pop. And after the waitress left to gather all of Izanami's muffins, Guy looked at Izanami with a smile and said, "So how are you doing Izanami? How's the teaching job treating you?" pie

Izanami smiled warmly at her once-idol, happy just to enjoy his company again. It had been too long, and their busy lives kept most Pros from seeing their colleagues frequently. The added workload of teaching career certainly didn't help at all. "You can say whatever you like, Guy-Sensei. I'm always happy to hear from you, and even if I disagreed with it two friends can't always see eye to eye." When Faux mentioned he and his wife were no longer together, Izanami looked like she'd taken a punch to the gut. She grew very quiet, looking down into her coffee as she thought of what best to say.
"I'm... sorry to hear that Faux. I remember when you two first married, I was only a child back then..." At the time Izanami had been only eight years old. Unconcerned with one of her father's colleagues getting married, the wedding had been a 'boring' event where the only people to talk to were the children of other Pro-Heroes. It felt like a lifetime ago. "I'm not exactly great with romance either... I've never been able to hold down a relationship for more than a few months." Dragon Queen let out a long sigh, before swiftly devouring a muffin as she ate her feelings. She was far too overbearing, harsh, and wrathful for most men, and her standards were so high she ignored most of her suitors anyways. Izanami simply told the press she was 'career focused' for the time being. It was a sore spot for her pride.
A silence hung awkwardly in the air for a moment, before Izanami cleared her throat to speak. "It has been a long while since we spoke. Too long. I need to get better about that. I have all these amazing people in my life, and I never make time for any of them." Determination returned to her voice, and Izanami devoured more of her brunch between sentences.
"My teaching job?" She said, dabbing her lips with a napkin in a most ladylike fashion. "Well it's certainly never dull. Some days I miss being able to patrol all day and late into the night. I feel like an old lady, I go to bed early and wake up with the sunrise to get to class before my students." She let out a sigh, shaking her head and smiling at the silliness. If that was her biggest complaint, clearly it wasn't hard.
"The pay is good, much higher than even a private university professor. I get full benefits, hours are fine, and I admire most of my coworkers." She paused, taking a sip of her coffee as she rolled her eyes. "With a small exception. You didn't hear me say this, but I'm sure you know the Hero Association has Aegis working at Shiketsu right? Principal has her as the homeroom teacher for the first years in 1-A. Personally, I think she's a bit of a ditz, and I don't like that mischievous streak she's known for." Izanami gave a shrug, and ate another muffin. "But, her students seem to like her well enough, she's covering the course material, and she does seem to be making a genuine effort. So maybe I'm just being too hard on her? What do you think?" ๑

Guy gave the woman a small smile as she spoke up saying she will listen to him ramble on about anything he needs to talk about, it was rare for the workaholic pro-hero to spend time with friends, and acquaintances as often as he did while he was younger, he had various duties, various patrols, various social gatherings that he needed to do and attend, so social interactions for himself is admittedly rarer then he would like. It admittedly made him feel a little bit lonely especially now after his wife divorced him and has major custody of Fox, but now thinking it over he understood why she left him as she did, he spent too much time at work and helping others to spend time with her or Fox and not helping them enough as he did the general public. Guy’s smile faltered a bit when Izanami looked a little hurt by the news of his and Marie’s divorce, she even seemed hesitant on what to say to that, which Guy admittedly dropped on her all of a sudden on her which made him feel bad for a moment. Suddenly, Izanami spoke, saying how she remembered the two getting married, which made Guy’s heart both ached and swell with mixed nostalgia memories, and after saying that Izanami said she wasn’t all that great at romance either, which took the Pro-hero by surprise, Guy couldn’t help but say, ”What? But you are an amazing young woman, you are smart, kind, and powerful, those men don’t know what they had and lost,” Guy said in a fatherly huffy tone of voice. Guy couldn’t help, but go all paternal with people younger than him. Thankfully Izanami snuffed out the heavy silence by clearing her throat, and saying it has been far too long since they had last spoken to each other, which Guy nodded his head and said, ”Here, here,” Guy said as he lifted up his cup of hot chocolate to the air in a cheer, Guy couldn’t agree anymore with what Izanami was saying about needing to improve spending time with their close friends and family. Guy listened intently as Izanami went into detail about her teaching job, saying how it’s never dull, even if it made her feel like an old woman due to waking up early and going to bed early, Guy chuckled at that last comment, ”I think my age is starting to get to me since that sounds like haven to me, you know how it is in the hero scene, late to bed and early to rise, an awful combination but a necessary one to keep the people safe.” Guy said in a light hearted manner as he took a sip of his hot chocolate. Izanami then went into detail about her job and what he least expected was her talking about a co-worker, this could’ve been considered Gossip, and Guy has a bad habit of being a gossip hen when ever he finds out about juicy gossip, damn his French heritage! But Guy then asked for his input on the Pro-hero Aegis, that was young Chiyoko wasn’t it? Guy knows her through a few social gatherings and brief encounters, she seemed like a fun if chaotic force of nature. ”This is the first time I’m hearing about this, but she seems like a nice young lady from the few encounters I had with her, perhaps a little hard-headed, but I can sense her resolve, so if she drills that into her students I’ll be excited to see them as possibly interns.” Guy gave his honest opinion and input about his follow fox like pro-hero. pie

Izanami took a deep drink from her coffee. Black coffee warmed the soul, even if the bitter taste had taken her years to get used to. Just the way Father drank it... she'd always mutter in her head. She couldn't help but blush slightly when Faux lavished her with compliments, dismissing him with a wave of the hand. "Oh please Guy-sensei, you sound just like my mother. You're too kind..." It was rare for compliments to get such a rise out of Izanami, but they were different coming from an old friend. "And you are charming as ever."
When Guy raised his drink to toast, Izanami did the same. "To good friends, and better breakfast." She proposed, clinking her mug carefully against his before taking another drink. Their toast was followed by Izanami devouring another of her muffins, she was still ravenous in the morning after all. She could only shake her head and smirk when her sensei said he felt like his age was creeping up on him. "And here I thought foxes were supposed to nocturnal?" She chided playfully, bringing the nature of his Quirk into this. "I hope being a tired old man isn't making you slow. I seem to remember a time we spared and you moved so fast I could barely land a scratch on you." Guy Faux's agility was well known, so much so his character in Super Star Heroes: Melee was considered a top tier pick.
"That is how it is though." Izanami added, staring sullenly into her coffee. "Long days, short nights, and never enough hours to go around. There were 915,042 crimes committed in Japan alone last year. If even a tenth of those involve Villains, that's still 91,500 crimes that will need Pro-Hero intervention. And there's only what, a thousand of us scattered across the country. Maybe fifteen hundred, if we include every Sidekick." She rolled her shoulders and sighed again. "I don't usually like looking at the hard numbers, it makes our task seem all the more impossible. But... we swore an oath, and we have a duty to uphold."
Izanami couldn't help but smile at Guy's comments on her fellow teacher. Maybe she judged Chiyoko too harshly, maybe Guy-sensei was just a better judge of character. It was natural for Izanami to see the world in black and white. Those were the only colors her father seemed to recognize. "You always see people for the good in them. I wish I had that quality, it's why you're still the Pro and I'm still the student in my eyes..."
The woman took another bite of her muffins as she mulled over what to say. "You're certainly right about the resolve. She has that in spades, and if her students inherit an ounce of it you'll be run ragged taking them on as Sidekicks." The woman said with a playful grin. "I swear the students get more promising every year, you should see some of their Quirks. Now as to their attitudes, that part remains to be determined." ๑
