overall appearance • Tall, well muscled, slender young man with silver-white hair and piercing eyes. Hotaru (or Kurogane as most people refer to him) has scars visible across his face and neck as well as his arms; though occasionally, when undressing or changing for gym, the scars all over his body are revealed. His most notable features are the scars, but also the bright white color of his hair which contrasts with his black eyes.

overall personality • Hotaru is a soft spoken and introverted individual - he can make friends but he tends to not have many of them; mainly because people know of his father's history as a villain, they avoided him at a young age because of it. He is somewhat protective of young children and becomes violent against those that threaten them; his temper tends to be short with them. He is caring to his mother, a former hero who was forcibly retired and attempts to take care of them as best he can. He is a hard worker, pushing himself and his body to the limit and almost to the breaking point, training to the point of exhaustion to increase his strength, stamina, and skills. He is loyal to what few friends he has, is respectful, but won't hold back from standing up to an authority figure if he feels they were abusing their authority.

overall history • Norio Miyazaki and Kurogane Hinata met in college in their youth; he was twenty four, she was nineteen. A romance blossomed between the two and they soon became a couple. In their Junior year, Hinata became pregnant with their first child; the baby, a boy, was sent to live with Hinata's parents so she could continue her education - though she and Miyazaki visited often and took great care of the child. After graduating, the two continued dating and eventually got married not long after Hinata became pregnant with their second child. The two were having a difficult time, living in a low rent apartment and having a hard time making ends meet. It was during this time that Miyazaki got into crime, petty theft, breaking and entering, and later upgraded to robbery; all of this done behind his wife's back.

It was around the time that Hotaru turned five that both of his parents discovered their quirks. Hotaru spent most of his time with his sibling at his grandparents' house while their mother became a hero and began to gain a decent amount of income; enough that they could move from their current rundown apartment to a nicer apartment. However, despite this, Miyazaki was still committing petty crime - although it grew more violent as time went on - even as he became aware of his quirk as well.

When Hotaru turned seven, things went south; Miyazaki's Yakuza boss demanded that he do something about his "do-gooder wife," as her hero work was interrupting his business. When Miyazaki hesitated, the Yakuza boss sent two hit men to Miyazaki's in-law's house, where both children were with their grandparents. Miyazaki arrived in time to see the couple die at the hands of the assassins and managed to put them down before they got close to the children.

Not long later, Hinata attempted to find evidence the Yakuza had something to do with the hit; and in a fit of emotional distress, she confronted one of the Yakuza leaders with her son nearby. Her husband crippled her during the ensuing battle, forcing her into retirement, all while Hotaru watched. The man attempted to explain that he did what he did in order to save her life, as the Yakuza were willing and ready to send more hit men after her and their children, and crippling her was the only way to ensure she no longer meddled in Yakuza affairs and also got the hit called off.

Hotaru and his sibling stayed with their mother and the boy dropped his father's last name. His father would visit, only when the boy was alone - usually appearing outside of his school - to, multiple times, attempt to tell the boy he had to do what he did in order to keep them alive. Hotaru refused to listen and told the man to leave them alone.

It was around age eight that Hotaru discovered his quirk; after a run in with some boys at his school led to a physical confrontation. It was during this fight that he realized his blood allowed him to gain control of metals and mold them into whatever shape he desired.

Between the ages of nine and fourteen, Hotaru experimented and tested his quirk, leading to the appearance of multiple scars - some of which were the result of more physical confrontations with bullies who targeted him because of his association with Miyazaki. He also worked multiple odd jobs, with his sibling, in order to make enough money to help their mother pay household bills, buy groceries, etc; throwing out trash, walking dogs, and under the table jobs at restaurants.

Sometime between fourteen and sixteen, Hotaru had a confrontation with his father where he was brutally beaten and marred with multiple new scars due to his refusal to use his quirk to fight his father.

Not long after, Hotaru entered Shiketsu in order to become a hero; not only to crush the remaining Yakuza, but also to stop his father, who is still at large.

quirk description • Hotaru has the ability to control and shape metal into anything he wants - usually in the form of swords, knives, other bladed weapons, hammers, shields, and armor. His blood must come into contact with the metal in question; however, he carries with  him a very heavy bag filled with metal that was forged with his blood, making it easier to control as opposed to any piece of metal he finds lying about that gets his blood on it.
quirk limitation • Metals like gold and silver make for lousy weapons, if the metal is too corroded or rusted it also makes for terrible materials for forging. If he has no metal, he can't use his quirk, and will have to resort to hand to hand.

Also, he is "constantly training" as he is always carrying around a rather large bag filled with metal forged with his blood for him to control; that metal is extremely heavy and he lugs it around one handed. He also uses his strength to wield some of his larger weapons and shields with better ease.
