- I can't help falling in love with you -
The rare sighting of a girl who was a bit far from home, Musutafu wasn’t exactly a high traffic area from the student who everyone knew as Olive but yet here she was. She honestly didn’t remember exactly what drove her to come all the way out here, but there was one little bakery that she loved that she couldn’t help but come visit on occasion. Add to that the bullet trains were going fast today and Olive was right on track for a nice, warm piece of piece to shove in her face.
The girl travelled down a few side roads before finally arriving where she was looking for, a quaint little bakery in the poorer end of town. The little white bakery was at the end of a strip mall, and the scent of baked goods seemed to linger hungrily in the air outside the door - looking for some wary soul to seduce into the depths of the business. Olive’s nose had fallen prey to it once but now found herself opening that door for the umpteenth time. This place was her home away from home.
She approached the counter, the setting sun coming in with a burst of colour from the window behind her seemingly setting the walls ablaze with colour and light. The white, pristine countertop gave way to a regularly cleaned glass case filled with all the pastries one could imagine. Still, she found herself looking through them all holding back the drool (because frankly that was unseemly) and struggling to make a choice.
That was until the door came open...

I LOVE YOU JUST A LITTLE TOO MUCH She had gone over the small shopping list her mother passed to her just as she was going through the door... maybe about fifteen times by now. What was supposed to be a day to herself turned into a game of fetch. The girl enjoyed helping her mom whenever she visited her family, but she could only do so much before it got annoying, yanno? To top it off, it seems today's final mission was a visit to her worst favorite place: the bakery. Umeko walked past it hundreds of times, and every time, the smell continued to make her sick. Honestly, you really start to hate the smell of fresh baked goods after a while. Cookies, pies, brownies. It all smelled terrible, and the taste was much too sweet for her liking. So, when she pushed through the doors of the disgustingly clean bakery, Umeko was expecting to see the usual: an empty counter, just waiting for her to approach Instead, she saw... white hair... highlighted by the an array of color by the sun just on the horizon. The piece of paper crumpled in her fist. A million curses ran through her mind. Of all the people... Umeko scowled. Time to make a power move. With one motion, Umeko brushed her hair behind her ear and made her way to stand right beside her rival. Not choosing to acknowledge her, of course. But instead, make an effort to pretend like she wasn't even there. |

She let out a sigh as she saw who came to her side, she didn't despise Umeko quite the same way that she seemed to despise her - in fact part of her respected the girl for the strength that she had shown so valiantly. Not many people were that strong and there was something about it to her that was just so incredibly memorable. "Hello, Umeko-san. I hope you're well." She said knowing that the girl would - knowing her - likely ignore her as she continued to ignore her. She pointed to a specific pastry, a sweet apple crumble and looked up to the person behind the counter, "I would like this one, please."
Something about Umeko irked her though, maybe it was the fact that she would simply ignore her existence more than anything. Other people would at least scoff or in some cases stop to praise how amazing she was (she didn't blame them) but Umeko seemed almost as if her sole purpose was to ignore that Olive was even there and to the prissy princess that she was that was simply unacceptable. No one would ignore her in her presence if she could help it.

I LOVE YOU JUST A LITTLE TOO MUCH Her eyes scanned the case in front of her for whatever her mom requested. The pie was here somewhere... were they out? Did they have to make another one before she could leave? Damnit... did she have to stay here with Olive. Of. All. People. Her plan of action, of course, was to ignore her. But when Olive opened her mouth to speak, the brunette couldn't bite her tongue fast enough to keep herself from speaking. "Sup." Was all she would say. It was hard to force the word out of her mouth. Umeko pointed to the empty tray, only for the person behind the corner to verify that it would be another few minutes or so before it would be ready. Her eye twitched, and she took a few steps back from the case. She took a seat at an empty table, opting to wait inside instead of coming back later. ...Hopefully, Olive would avoid sitting down with her entirely. She had walked past the building a few times, seeing the white-haired girl sitting inside. She didn't understand how one teenage girl could be so pompous and elitist. She would never understand, most likey. And she didn't want to. |
